If a coach is giving advice about training through perimenopause and menopause, their personal experience with hormonal interventions matters. Are they using HRT? Have they managed symptoms naturally? Are they speaking from lived experience, research, or both? These details shape the way they frame their recommendations, and transparency builds trust.
Menopause is not one-size-fits-all. The experience of someone on HRT is going to look very different from someone managing symptoms without it. The same goes for athletes navigating perimenopause while still having some hormonal fluctuation versus those who are postmenopausal. Without context, the advice being given can be misleading or, at worst, completely irrelevant to what you need.
When you work with a coach, you deserve to know where their perspective is coming from. Are they just now experiencing symptoms and sharing in real-time? Have they been researching and coaching menopausal athletes for years? Do they understand the nuances of hormone replacement therapy, strength training adaptations, and how to adjust training beyond just “listen to your body”?
If you want a coach who is upfront about their knowledge, stays current on the research, and has worked with a range of athletes through every phase of menopause, I’d love to work with you. Let’s build a training plan that actually meets you where you are.
